Nalini K. Yangad was born on 14th August 1926. She was a third child of Konduji and Geetabai Yangad out of thirteen.
In her early age she became associated with Dr. Orpah Spicher founder of Reynolds Memorial Hospital, Washim. She was highly impressed with Dr. Orpah Spicher’s commitment of sharing the love of Jesus Christ through medical service. She embraced Medical service. She was a bright student and Dr. Orpah took personal interest in edifying her further in Medical Service. She was the first trained and certified nurse of RMH.
During her early young age once she fell very sick with Pleurisy and was almost on her deathbed. At that time her Mother Geetabai prayed for her and promised to God if she was saved she would be offered to God’s service. And the Lord heard her prayer and she was saved. Nalinibai had heard this prayer of her mother and remained faithful to fulfill the promise her mother had made to the Lord for her entire life.
She was widely known as Sister Yangad.
She decided to remain single and spent time, energy and resources in upbringing her siblings.
She became a Nursing Superintendent of RMH Nursing School. Anatomy and Physiology was on her fingertips. She had great command in it and didn’t have to look into books or notes. Any one who learned from her definitely reached their carrier heights in Medical field. There are several who testify proudly about it.
She attended General Assembly of the Church of the Nazarene in USA and represented RMH ministry to the west along with Dr. Orpah Spicher. In the USA she was offered to stay and work with several institutions but she refused to stay because of her love and commitment to her Lord and to her service in India.
From 1970 to 1977 she served as a Nursing Superintendent at St. Columbas Hospital Hazaribagh, Jharkhand (Bihar). From here she returned and rejoined RMH at Washim.
After retiring from RMH, she was invited to work at Nagpur and even Wardha.
She was a woman of great sacrifice, love for the poor and discipline. She was very straightforward and a great teacher as well as an uncompromising administrator.
She had great faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. She was a very strong prayer warrior.
She was a great neater. Every Yangad and relative coveted a sweater knitted by her.
She lived with younger brother Mr. Harshanand K. Yangad at Washim on the Nazarene Bible College Campus in 1999-2000. She was a very independent lady and after Wardha she chose to live in Washim and conducted knitting and English speaking classes for several years.
While she was serving in Washim, once there was a fresh delivery case and the new born baby girl wasn’t breathing, Nalinibai saw this and immediately gave the baby mouth to mouth respiration and the baby was saved. Family was amazed at Nalinibai’s lifesaving action. They experienced the love of Jesus Christ through this sacrificial action of Nalinibai. Later on she was named after Nalinibai’s Mother as Geeta. Geeta and her family would come to Washim every year and spend time with Nalinibai. Nalinibai would always share gospel of Jesus Christ with the family and would spend time in praying with the family for their needs and lives.
Later on as she became old and wasn’t able to take care of herself all alone she moved to Chikhli with her brother Rev. Arvind K. Yangad’s family. She had lost her ability to walk and read. She needed to be moved everywhere in her wheelchair. At Yangads’ she was very well cared for. The entire family served her in every manner and met her every single need till her last breath. She went to be the Lord on 20th February 2015 at the age of 89.
