Monalisa Yangad
I was born in Dhulia on 14th April 1978. I am a second child of my parents Mr. Carls & Mrs. Saudamini Modak. Both have gone to be with the Lord. My Dad was an Art Teacher at J.R. City Highschool, Dhulia, Maharashtra and my Mom was Sister in-charge at Civil Hospital Dhulia. My elder brother Anurag is married to Alpana and lives in Nashik with their Daughter Tania. He owns a communications solutions business.
My primary education took place at St. Xavier’s School, Dhulia and high school at Canossa Convent, Dhulia. I attended Jai Hind Collage, Dhulia for my graduate studies, during which I was selected for Republic Day Parade at Delhi as a NCC Cadet. This is considered as one of the biggest National Level achievements in NCC.
We were members of Deopur Swidish Alliance Church now known as Suwarta Alliance, where I gained my basic Christian knowledge and understanding. During 1995 in a Youth Camp, all the youth were asked to have a quite time in which the Lord Jesus Christ got hold of my heart. God convinced me of my disobedience to him through my social religious involvements. It dawned on me for the first time that every Christian should have his or her personal Bible and personal Bible reading and prayer time. Till then I used to think that it was only for the Sunday services or only for special Christian events. Rev. Madhukar Khawadia helped us understand how every Christian Young person can keep themselves pure and glorify the Lord through our life under the control of the Lord. At the camp fire I was able to testify my conviction. I had realized that I needed to give my life to Jesus Christ and live a life of complete surrender to him. I asked Jesus’ forgiveness and accepted him as my personal Savior. My Church involvement now was of a fervent Christian rather than a traditional Church goer. Since then I am on a constantly growing spiritual journey. During those Christian formative years my grandmother Mrs. Rosebel Modak was a great help to me. She was a Bible Woman with Swidish Alliance Mission. She was like an instant encyclopedia of Christianity to me. I could go to her and ask any question or clarify any Christian doubts with her.
After my Salvation I was able to witness Christian gospel with my friends through various situations in their life. I unknowingly became a counselor to my friends and the Lord even used me in the lives of their parents. Parents, especially mothers, felt extremely comfortable and confident in sharing their issues with me and I was able to talk to them and regarding their issues from Christian point of view which became life saver to them. I find myself doing the same even today with my coworkers as I work as a Principal at Hallelujah English School, Chikhli. I praise God for those early witnessing encounters with my little friends. I understand they were training sessions from God for my Christian Service.
Since my childhood I liked Sanjiv and vice a versa. As we grew up the liking continued and prayerfully we expressed it to each other which led to our marriage on 19th July 2002 at Nazarene Conference Chapel, Chikhli. We are happily married and the Lord has blessed us with two kids, Geet is our elder son born on 03rd June 2003 and Preet our daughter was born on 02nd October 2010.
While serving at Hallelujah English School, Chikhli as a Principal in 2009, Rev. Rajiv Yangad had invited Rev. Sanjay Singh and Rev. Sanjay Gaikwad from UBS, Pune for an orientation on Theological Studies through extension. I attended that orientation. After the orientation I was encouraged by my Brother-in-law Rev. Rajiv to register for Master of Divinity through extension. I had never thought of it but I thought of attempting it since I was going to be able to pursue it from home. I passed the entrance exam and got admitted. Because of the physical illness of my daughter Preet, I several times thought that I will not be able to complete it. Rev. Sanjay Singh as well as my mentor and Pastor Rev. Nitin Saraf and every member of my family in Chikhli along with other students with me constantly encouraged me to complete it. Today I praise God that I have completed the Master of Divinity from UBS, Pune.
